Volkswagen AG is to strengthen Audi's role within the Group. With Markus Duesmann as the new CEO, Audi will take the lead for research & development within the brand alliance.
According to German stock corporation law, Volkswagen is to increase its shareholding in Audi from 99.64% to 100%. Volkswagen AG is majority-owned by Porsche Automobil Holding SE. with 53.1% voting right.
Exactly what taking the role of research and development would mean for Audi, which for now remains a legal entity, is yet to be seen.
